This fabric used to be a table cloth. I wanted to keep as much of the pattern as possible, as it’s such a classic. The person I painted is androgynous, some see a male whilst others see a female. When this fabric was commonplace you would have never seen a person like this, sitting like this, dressed like this, the juxtaposition of it resonates in the title.
It is large and mounted on a wooden backing.
